Henna is a plant, Lawsonia inermis.  The leaves of the henna plant have a red-orange dye molecule that will stain your hair red-orange: this stain is translucent and will combine with your natural color. Henna hair coloring has been used for over 5000+ years and is a healthy alternative to conventional hairdyes. It covers gray beautifully and leaves your hair feeling amazing! Though henna only comes in one color, we have combined other plants to give you many different color options! We also offer Cassia deep conditioning treatments that make your hair silky, smooth and shiny.

Yes. Henna is permanent. Traditional hair dye fades while henna does not.

The henna application takes 30 – 45 mins. Once we color the hair, we wrap it in a scarf (you can either purchase a scarf from us or bring your own from home!). After the hair is wrapped, you are free to go home and wash it out when ready. Henna needs to stay on the hair anywhere from 3 hours to 4 hours (longer for resistant gray hair), although it is up to the individual on how long they want to leave the henna on their hair. Some resistant grays require that the henna stays over night or requires a 2nd application. Henna is natural to the earth and does not damage the hair even if you leave the dye in longer than 4 hours.

Before you appointment:

Henna goes on clean hair. We ask our clients to wash their hair before their appointment – please do NOT apply gel, oil, shampoo, conditioner or any products that will block the color from penetrating the hair before you arrive to your appointment.

If you are not sure of the color of henna, we highly recommend you to get a test strand done. $10 for each test strand.

No, root touch up is all that is needed. However, root to end application every time will darken the hair.

The easiest way to wash out henna is in the shower. You can use shampoo and conditioner if needed.

There is no such thing as clear henna. Henna is always red. Cassia Obatova has received some recognition recently as clear henna. Cassia is not henna. Cassia is a plant that is used along with henna and indigo for coloring hair. Cassia conditions and gives the hair a lustrous shine! We do offer cassia conditioning treatment if you are looking for a healthy treatment for your hair without the color.

“I’m incredibly grateful for Renee’s services. I did the cassia treatment on my hair and it was perfect. Curly hair gets challenging to maintain- so, the cassia treatment brought back the life to my hair after years to damage. Renee was professional, sweet and knowledgeable. She used 2 bags of Cassia on my hair and packaged it neatly it into a head wrap. I let my hair sit for 4 hours before I rinsed it out. My hair looks thicker and shiner. Also, I’ve been using the Shampoo Body Bar and my hair has never felt so clean! ”

“I absolutely love my hair! This is the happiest I have been with my hair in perhaps forever. So, I will definitely be back for the root touch up with the exact same color.”
